Birthday brings joy, late night wishes and phone calls, decoration, parties, cake, friends, selfies and lots of presents. The day when no one is going to mind if you sing like a rockstar, jump like a frog, blow bubbles like a child, dance like a mad or just giggle without any reason. You can be a kid and enjoy like a grownup. While it can be celebrated the usual way - the rectangular cake from the same bakery, balloons, birthday caps, blowing candles, a cheerful rendition of “Happy Birthday to you” and cutting the cake with your name in icing before getting back to work. This routine event can die off the hype, but we, at Milople, never miss a chance to make this day extra special with tons of new surprises and ideas. Even if each one of us are very much assured to get a surprise, still fail to guess the unique way of celebration. From fresher to the most senior managers, b’days are celebrated in a manner that it really makes the day more memorable and special. Here, I would like to share some of the unique yet so joyful b’day celebrations and surprises:
Celebration at 12: You can never imagine all of your colleagues to be at your home sharp at 12. All the Miloplers had decided to surprise our CEO at 12 at night. We gathered at his place at 11:57, climbed the stairs with pin drop silence and knocked the door to scare him like anything. When he opened the door with a deep scare, we shouted out the b’day song to bring him from frightened state to the happiest. According to him, it was the most surprising and joyful b’day surprise.
Inviting parents to workplace: Parents meeting time were most pathetic moments at school ages but bringing parents to the workplace actually brings proud and happiness. We planned to celebrate Nirav’s b’day in such a way. We invited his parents to be a part of his special day without letting him know and planned for snacks. The first sight of his parents’ arrival brought wonder, joy and proud for him.
No wishes at all: The most unique way used to surprise was not wishing the person at all. Yes, this birthday surprise was planned for me. Everyone was talking about my birthday celebration till the last day before my birthday and on the day everybody behaved liked they have forgotten. I was so angry and at the same time confused how they can forget my birthday. It was harder for me to concentrate on my work. After some time, our CEO Prashant sir and all other colleagues came up with cake at my workplace singing b’day song louder. All my sorrows replaced with the instant happiness and a big smile. Really, it was the best b’day surprise I have ever got.
Rewinding journey with the company: The more you serve the company, the more you become familiar with it. As a part of birthday celebration, once we made an effort to make Sagar nostalgic about his wonderful journey with the company by showing him his different photographs till date. It really made him feel nostalgia and proud to see the change in himself.
B’day celebrations at picnic: On Vijay’s birthday, sir announced picnic without reason. We went to Palitana without wishing him. He kept thinking everybody might have forgotten in the enthusiasm of joy and fun of picnic. After reaching the venue, sir gathered everyone and we sang birthday song and gifted a nice wrist watch to him. Both the picnic and wrist watch were his favorite birthday surprises.
Birthday cum engagement celebration: One of my colleague, Bhushan called Sir to give unexpected news about his engagement. When he came back in the second half, as it was his birthday too, sir planned to celebrate both in a unique way. On his arrival, we let him sit on a wooden stool and each of us fed him Goldhana - a traditional engagement ritual in Gujarati tradition. It was real fun for him to enjoy this tradition in office as well.
Serving community: Imagine people gathered for birthday celebration, Jalebi on the table and on last second sir announced we wont eat this Jalebi of birthday rather distribute it to some special children. And yes that was real Joy for the birthday boy and everyone! Few people went outside to distribute the Jalebi and here was the bang afterwards. When the came back a whole new party was ready for ours. We can not trade this Joy mixed with satisfaction with anything.
Birthday with cricket kit: Jitendra is a hard core cricket fan and his birthday was planned on cricket theme. even the cake was also set on a platform made of bat, ball and stumps.
